Rosa wichuraiana
A trailing plant with branches to 10'. The curved prickles are red on new growth. The 1 1/2-2" solitary, fragrant flowers have 5, notched white petals and a mass of yellow stamens. The sepals are sharp-pointed and sweptback. The shiny dark green leaves are pinnately compound and the leaflets are toothed. Only the terminal leaflet is stalked. The long, 2-pointed stipules are fringed. Blooms early summer. An escape from cultivation.
